Free Spirit by Ipoza |
The exhibition, which will open on June 18 and run until 28, aims to tell the art connoisseurs in various styles and expressions their experiences in life and how they were able to overcome each phase they went through.
This exhibition will bring to the fore both established and emerging fine artists with 60 pieces of amazing arts representing the diversified concepts, statements and subjects. This expo will feature artists like Ade Odunfa, Adeleke Olajide, Arikpo Godwin, Bolaji Ogunwo, Babatunde Ogunlade, Chuks Okomkwo, Donald Ekpo, Durodola Yusuf, Henry Chigbo, Ibrahim Afegbua, Jonathan Ikpoza, Opedun Damilola, Oluwole Omofemi, Uzoma Samuel and Sophia Igbinovia.
According to the architect of Faces and Phases, Adeodunfa, who represented the others at the media parley, these refined painters, sculptors and photographers are invited to embrace this movement of expressing the faces of their personal Faces and Phases as new entrants exception himself and Omofemi.
To satiate art afficionados, each artist will display four exquisite pieces. Having dug deep into the forest of their thought, they came up with paintings of oil on canvass, sculptures, drawings, mixed media, installation art, photography in various styles, acrylic, pastel, natural coal found around, and techniques and media. Some of the special visage of this exhibition will be the experience of the artists' approach to the works and theme of the expo.
With subtle minimalist approach, Odunfa saturates his works with obvious brush strokes that are gentle and aggressive as his mood dictates. He creates works in which a fascination with clarity and an uncompromising attitude towards conceptual and minimal art becomes found. Ikpoza is another artist worthy of note.
His serial expressions are characterised with flow of geometric rhythmic movements of lines and shapes enveloped into creative colour orchestration. He captures the quest of human for eternal freedom, which governs the act of human and the effects.
This artist, who has been in 40 group exhibition, enthused that the necessity to hanker for peace in a violence filled society and security in an insecure environment. This could be seen in one of his works, 'The Free Spirit' (30X36").
The artists alongside their sponsor, Makadel, assured that the exhibition promises to splatter great works on the tray of the gallery. "I find it very interesting, since we have done it before. I felt it was good to spur young artists since the episode 2," said Nita Iphraim, founder of Makadel, School of Style and Design.
